Abstract

A Laboratory Guide for Elementary Geometry Using GeoGebra is a free, online collection of interactive, problem-centered, inquiry-based geometry lesson plans for upper elementary students that are based on the Essential Concepts and Skills for Geometry identified in the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics (grades 3-5).

Jack D. Gittinger, Simpson College

My name is Dr. Jack D. Gittinger. I am a professor at Simpson College in central Iowa. I teach various methods courses for the education department, mathematics for elementary teachers for the mathematics department, and a general science course for the science department.

I am interested in promoting the use of GeoGebra at the upper elementary grade levels. I am currently developing a library of GeoGebra-based lesson plans for grades 3-5 aligned with the Common Core standards recently adopted by the state of Iowa.
